January 19 - 21, 2017 - ASCO GI Symposium - Multidisciplinary Precision Care: Progress and Innovations

The American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Gastrointestinal (GI) Cancers Symposium is a specialized oncology event designed to provide scientific and educational content for members of the GI cancer care and research community. This three-day meeting encompasses the latest science in cancers of the esophagus and stomach; the pancreas, small bowel, and hepatobiliary tract; and the colon, rectum, and anus.  This year's Symposium offers breakout sessions covering cutting-edge and controversial topics, a trainee and early-career networking luncheon with noted faculty members, and the opportunity to view and discuss selected posters with respected faculty members during poster walks.

March 23 – March 25, 2017 - NCCN 20th Annual Conference: Improving the Quality, Effectiveness, and Efficiency of Cancer Care

The National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) attracts more than 1,500 registrants from across the United States and the globe including oncologists (in both community and academic settings), oncology fellows, nurses, pharmacists, and other health care professionals involved in the care of patients with cancer.  Respected opinion leaders present the latest cancer therapies and provide updates on selected NCCN Clinical Practice Guidelines in Oncology, the data upon which the NCCN Guidelines are based, and quality initiatives in oncology.  Topics change annually but focus on the major cancers and supportive care areas.

April 1- April 5 2017 - AACR Annual Meeting - Delivering Cures Through Cancer Science

The AACR Annual Meeting highlights the best cancer science and medicine from institutions all over the world.  Attendees are invited to stretch their boundaries, form collaborations, attend sessions outside their own areas of expertise, and learn how to apply exciting new concepts, tools, and techniques to their own research.

June 2-6, 2017 - ASCO Annual Meeting - Science and Society

American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Annual Meeting brings together more than 25,000 oncology professionals from a broad range of specialties, making it an excellent venue for exploring the theme of the Meeting — "Science and Society."  Attendees will experience cutting-edge scientific presentations and comprehensive educational content.

October 27-28, 2016 - 2016 ISGIO Conference

The International Society of Gastrointestinal Oncology (ISGIO) provided an educational forum for presenting and discussing the latest advances in the broad field of GI cancer research, as well as critical issues relevant to the care of persons with GI cancer.  The conference featured distinguished speakers covering a broad spectrum of topics ranging from basic science to clinical therapeutics. Presenters and discussants explored current issues and debated controversial topics. Case presentations were given by the faculty and the audience participated by an interactive audience response system to stimulate discussion on diagnosis and management.

June 3-7, 2016 - ASCO Annual Meeting

The ASCO Annual Meeting brings together more than 30,000 oncology professionals from a broad range of specialties, making it an excellent venue for exploring the theme of the Meeting—"Collective Wisdom: The Future of Patient-Centered Care and Research." Educational sessions will feature world-renowned faculty discussing state-of-the-art treatment modalities, new therapies, and ongoing controversies in the field.

April 16-20, 2016 - AACR Annual Meeting - Delivering Cures Through Cancer Science

Debbie's Dream attended the AACR Annual Meeting 2016 in New Orleans which highlights the latest, most exciting discoveries in every area of cancer research and provides a unique opportunity for investigators from all over the world to meet, interact, and share their insights. Debbie's Dream works with the AACR on our grants. Congratulations to Elise Demitrack, PhD, who won the 2016 Debbie's Dream Foundation - AACR Career Development $150,000 Award for Gastric Cancer Research and to Holly Martinson, PhD, the winner of the 2016 Debbie's Dream Foundation-AACR Gastric Cancer $50,000 Young Research Fellowship Grant.

Saturday, April 9, 2016 - 6th Stomach Cancer Education Symposium & Webinar - FREE

Debbie's Dream Foundation hosted its 6th Stomach Cancer Education Symposium for in person attendees and via live webinar. Over 100 patients, families, caregivers, the general public, and health care professionals attended for free.  Speakers were from University of Colorado School of Medicine; MD Anderson Cancer Center; Duke Cancer Center; Harvard Dana-Farber Cancer Institute; Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center; and Memorial Hospital West.  Topics included novel surgical options; non-surgical treatment options; radiation oncology; genomics; clinical trials; integrative medicine; and nutritional considerations.

Debbie's Dream Foundation: Curing Stomach Cancer hosted a booth at the NCCN 21st Annual Conference: Advancing the Standard of Cancer Care™ to raise awareness about stomach cancer and DDF's efforts in research, advocacy, and patient support. The conference was attended by registrants from across the United States and the globe including oncologists (in both community and academic settings), oncology fellows, nurses, pharmacists, and other health care professionals involved in the care of patients with cancer. Debbie's Dream staff, Chapter leaders, and Medical Advisory Board members attended the 2016 ASCO GI conference which is a high-profile, specialized oncology event designed for the exchange of the latest research and science in cancers of the stomach, esophagus, pancreas, small bowel, hepatobiliary tract, colon, and rectum.

October 22-23, 2015 - International Gastrointestinal Oncology Conference

Representatives from Debbie's Dream Foundation: Curing Stomach Cancer attended the 2015 International Gastrointestinal Oncology Conference in Arlington, VA. DDF President and Founder Debbie Zelman spoke to share her story and information about DDF. The conference provided an educational forum for presenting and discussing the latest advances in GI cancer research, as well as critical issues relevant to the care of persons with GI cancer.

May 29 - June 2, 2015 - ASCO Annual Meeting - Chicago, Il

The ASCO Annual Meeting brought together more than 25,000 oncology professionals from a broad range of specialties, making it an excellent venue for exploring the theme of the Meeting—"Illumination and Innovation." Prospective attendees familiarized themselves with some basic information, including: The various session types that will take place at the Annual Meeting and The Cancer Education and Scientific Program Committees.

April 18 - 22, 2015 - AACR Annual Meeting - Philadelphia, PA

Debbie's Dream attended the AACR Annual Meeting 2015 in Philadelphia which highlighted the latest, most exciting discoveries in every area of cancer research and provided a unique opportunity for investigators from all over the world to meet, interact, and share their insights. This year's meeting theme – "Bringing Cancer Discoveries to Patients" – underscored the vital and inextricable link between discovery and treatment, and it reinforced the fact that research underpins all the progress we are making in the field toward cancer cures.  Debbie's Dream works with the AACR on our grants and our two $50,000 grants were awarded this year to Eirini Pectasides, MD, PhD from Dana-Farber Cancer Institute to study "Enhancing the efficacy of ERBB2 inhibition in gastric cancer" and to Andrea Zamperone, PhD from Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University to study the "Mechanisms of DNA damage signaling by Helicobacter pylori."

April 17, 2015 - Scientific Update in Gastrointestinal Cancer

Debbie's Dream Foundation Medical Advisory Board members Edith Mitchell, MD and David Ilson, MD presented at the Scientific Update on Gastrointestinal Cancers at the Hyatt Regency Philadelphia at Penn's Landing sponsored by the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center and the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Network. This symposium was for healthcare professionals and researchers involved in the prevention, screening, evaluation, and management of upper gastrointestinal tract cancers.
