November 23, 2011 - Santa's Enchanted Forest Night with DDF

Debbie's Dream Foundation hosted a night of fun at Santa's Enchanted Forest in Miami, Florida, by providing a coupon for $2.00 off admission, and Santa's donated a portion of each ticket to DDF. Everyone had a good time and raised $750 for DDF. Thank you to Santa's for hosting this event for DDF and to all of the supporters who attended on our behalf!

November 19, 2011 - New Jersey 5K by Nicole Friedman in honor of Jennifer Zambrana

Nicole Friedman hosted a 5K in memory of her dear friend Jennifer Zambrana who battled with stomach cancer for over 3 years. Jenni was only given 6 months to live but it did not stop her from living. She traveled all over including Spain to see family. She put together her own business and researched her illness. She was always in high spirits, loved life, and only wanted to live it. Jenni is an inspiration to all and Nicole hosted this event in her memory and as a tribute to her life to benefit Debbie's Dream Foundation! Over 20 people attended and the event raised over $700.00.

November 9, 2011 - Westside Regional Medical Center, Plantation General Hospital, and Footprints Night with the Doctors

Westside Regional Medical Center, Plantation General Hospital, and Footprints held the second Night with the Doctors in Plantation, Florida to benefit DDF. The event was chaired by Sheri Rosenberg. Attendees mingled with local doctors to ask health related questions, there was a terrific raffle, shopping at Footprints and Angelic Accents who both donated a percentage of their sales to DDF, and scrumptious food was provided by The Mustard Seed Bistro. Thank you for an amazing event!

October 21, 2011 - Be Bold, Be Bald

University School Middle School students and teachers in Davie, Florida participated in Be Bold, Be Bald! which was a unique nationwide fundraiser to honor cancer patients and raise money to fight the disease. Participants purchased bald caps which they wore for the entire day in honor of patients fighting cancer.

October 13, 2011 - New York "Shop for a Cause" Event

Chairperson Tammy Caress had the 3rd Annual New York DDF Shopping Event at which she served delicious food and had friends over to shop in New York for BUTTER TEASE, LEMON, Playdate NYC, Appaman, City Threads, Tailgate, Confetti and Friends, I Scream, Bling Affair, Little Traveler, American Apparel, Red Jacket, Charm School, Malibu Sugar, D Xtreme, and Little Leal Leggings. Vendors gave a percentage of their sales to Debbie's Dream Foundation. Thank you to Tammy for arranging this event and for raising over $1,600 for DDF!

September 24, 2011 - Angelic Accents Shopping Event

During September, 2011, Angelic Accents sold raffle tickets for a beautiful gift basket valued at $420 and gave all raffle ticket proceeds to DDF. On Saturday, September 24, 2011, Sophia, the generous owner, donated 10% of all store sales to DDF. Through their fundraising efforts, Angelic Accents made $718 for DDF! Thank you so much for your generosity and to the wonderful helpers in the store: Sherie, Trish, Virgie, and Gabriele. In addition, all year long if you mention DDF at the time of your purchase, the store will donate 10% of the sale to DDF.

August 30, 2011 - Wells Fargo Community Partners Breakfast Honoring DDF

DDF was chosen for the second year in a row as the Wells Fargo Community Partner recipient charity for Plantation, Florida Branch and was honored at the Wells Fargo Community Partner Breakfast. DDF is happy to partner with Wells Fargo in its efforts to assist in our mission!

August 21, 2011 - Ryan and Amanda Caress Lemonade Stand

Eight year old twins Ryan and Amanda Caress had a lemonade stand and cookie sale in New York to raise money for DDF. They publicized their stand in advance by passing out flyers to their friends and neighbors. Ryan and Amanda received amazing support and donations from people they didn't even know and raised $500.00 from their efforts. Amazing achievement!

May 22, 2011 - Rachel & Zachary Guttman's Images & Icing Mitzvah Project

Rachel and Zachary Guttman had an Images and Icing fundraiser for their mitzvah project. They raised over $6,000 by selling their own photography as well as having raffles, vendors, a jeweler buying gold and a bake sale. They worked very hard taking, editing and framing their photography, coordinating some of the other aspects of the fundraiser as well as advertising the event to their family and friends. They are still receiving orders for their photography. There were over 100 people in attendance and numerous volunteers. Congratulations on a job well done!

May 2011 - Youth Artist Eve Moll

Thirteen year old Eve Moll is an amazing artist. She has already been in an art show and has done drawings for several contests and charities including DDF. Eve created original artwork for DDF which has been made into note cards and giclees that DDF sells. Eve's piece shows a woman under a tree, which was inspired by DDF's original tree logo. Many thanks to Eve for spending hours creating this special and inspiring piece for DDF to help raise money for stomach cancer research!

May 7, 2011 - Inaugural Stomach Cancer Education Symposium

Debbie's Dream Foundation held its first ever Stomach Cancer Education Symposium for patients, families, caregivers, the general public, and health care professionals.  Topics presented included surgical and non-surgical treatments for stomach cancer, radiation, clinical trials, genomics, nutrition, and side effect management.  The symposium was available internationally via webinar.

May 6, 2011 - 2nd Annual Dream Makers Gala

The 2nd anniversary of Debbie's Dream Foundation: Curing Stomach Cancer was celebrated at our 2nd Annual Dream Makers Gala. We had over 400 registered attendees and raised more than $160,000. The evening included cocktails, music entertainment by Full Throttle, live and silent auctions, dinner, dancing, yummy dessert and captivating speaker New York Times Best Selling Author Brad Meltzer.  Award recipients included Julie and Jeffrey Cornfeld and Susanne and Steven Horowitz of Newport Beachside Hotel and Resort; Libia Scheller, PhD, MBA, of IMER; Madelyn Zelman, M.Ed; Duree Ross of Duree and Company; and Kathleen Mary Wesa, MD of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.

April 20, 2011 - Sydney and Sophie Silverstein's Lemonade and Cookies Stand

Elementary School students and sisters Sydney and Sophie Silverstein of Weston, Florida organized a Lemonade & Cookies stand to benefit Debbie's Dream. They baked the cookies, made the lemonade and made signs by hand. They raised $120 through their efforts. They were assisted by their friends and fellow students Skylar Ronkin, Payton Ronkin, Sydney Bonchik, and Lilly Boyd. Friends Lila Meltzer and Sasha Herthal were among the many customers. What a good time while raising money for a good cause!

January 30, 2011 - 2nd Annual Night of Laughter

A sold out crowd of400 attendees packed into the Improv Comedy Club at the Hollywood Hard Rock Casino, Florida to laugh together raising funds. The comedians were hilarious! Thank you to all of our sponsors and kudos to event Co-Chairs Sheri Albert and Craig Konhauzer for an incredible evening.

January 30, 2011 - Dream Team in Miami Marathon & Half Marathon

Congratulations to the more than 20 members of Debbie's Dream Team in the Miami Marathon and Half Marathon! Participants raised over $15,000 and were part of more than 10,000 race participants.  Many thanks to our sponsors, event Chair Meaghan Kirby, committee members, sponsors, and volunteers who helped make the event a great success.
