DDF hosted a booth at the 2015 Seminole Hard Rock 44th Annual Winterfest Boat Parade Grandstand Viewing Area in Hugh Taylor Birch State Park. The Seminole Hard Rock Winterfest Boat Parade Grandstand Viewing Area draws tens of thousands of spectators annually.

Wednesday, December 9, 2015 - Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce Non-Profit Committee Meeting

DDF was invited to speak at the December 2015 Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce Non-Profit Committee Meeting.  DDF Board Member Madelyn Zelman gave an informative and personal presentation to a crowd of more than 100 non-profit professionals and leaders.  CLICK HERE to view the Powerpoint presentation.

Monday, December 7, 2015 - Mommy & Me Class at Pediatric Dentistry Orthodontics

Pediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics selected Debbie's Dream Foundation as the beneficiary foundation for the December 7 Mommy & Me class. Participants enjoyed a hour of circle time, songs, dance and more with their infants and toddlers and Miss Sue.

In recognition of November's designation as Curing Stomach Cancer Month, the Ohio Chapter is sponsoring a DDF Day. Fans will have the opportunity to watch the Cleveland Cavaliers take on the Brooklyn Nets as they support research for stomach cancer.

Thursday, November 26, 2015 - 3rd Annual Terry Trot

The 3rd Annual Terry Trot will take place in in Glen Allen, VA on Nov. 26th, 2015 at 8am.  Come run, walk or jog before you eat on Thanksgiving Day.  All proceeds will benefit Debbie Dream Foundation, in memory of Terry Willie-Compton.

Sunday, November 22, 2015 - 3rd Annual Dance for Doug Zumba Fitness Party

The third annual Dance for Doug was held in Omaha, Nebraska at Celebration Covenant Church and was hosted by our Nebraska Chapter Leader Cyndi Howard. Participants exercised and got in shape doing Zumba while raising awareness about stomach cancer and raised approximately $1,000 for stomach cancer research. The event was in memory of Doug Ferguson who passed away a few years ago from stomach cancer.

Saturday, November 21, 2015 - Maryland Night of Laughter

Friends of DDF laughed for a cure at the 1st New York Night of Laughter at the Magooby's Joke House in Timonium. The evening was a great success thanks to the leadership of Event Chair and Chapter Founder Gae Rogers.

Saturday, November 14, 2015 - Fayetteville NC Golf Tournament

The Debbie's Dream North Carolina East Chapter hosted the 2nd Annual NC Golf Tournament at the Gates Four Golf & Country Club in Fayetteville, North Carolina chaired by Tony and Christy Leonard.  The event raised over $14,000 and had over 60 golfers, supporters, and volunteers in attendance.  Many thanks to Chairs Christy and Tony Leonard, generous sponsors, volunteers, donors, and golfers who all made this event the best yet!

Our 3rd Annual International Stomach Cancer Jeans Day was a big hit! Supporters from all over took part in the fundraiser while showing off their most stylish jeans.  What better way to raise money for stomach cancer research than wearing jeans to work or school while encouraging your peers to do the same?

The New York chapter of Debbie's Dream Foundation hosted its' 1st New York Night of Laughter at the Gotham Comedy Club in New York City. More than 150 friends of DDF enjoyed an evening of amazing raffles, delicious drinks, and hilarious comedians.  The evening was a great success thanks to the leadership of Co-hairs Tammy Caress and Nicole Reichenbach and their amazing committee.  Thank you to our Comic Relief sponsors Debbie Zelman and Andrew Guttman and Madelyn and Danny Zelman.

Saturday, November 7, 2015 - Chicago Stomach Cancer Education Symposium & Webinar

Debbie's Dream Foundation hosted its first Chicago Stomach Cancer Education Symposium for more than 100 people in person and via live webinar. This symposium was presented free to patients, families, caregivers, the general public, and health care professionals. Attendees had the unique opportunity to hear from and interact with leaders in the field of stomach cancer. Click below to view the lectures.

October 16, 2015 - Be Bold, Be Bald!

For the 4th year in a row, Debbie's Dream Foundation participated in this unique worldwide fundraiser to honor cancer patients and raise money to fight the disease.  Participants purchased bald caps and wore them for the entire day in honor of patients fighting cancer or in memory of someone.  Check out photos of our school clubs on the Be Bold, Be Bald Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/BeBoldBeBald.

October 1, 2015 - 100+ Women Who Care

The 100+ Women Who Care was started in 2006 in Jackson, Michigan by Karen Dunigan.  The original 100+ WWC chapter has since  grown to more than 200 members and there are now chapters all across the country.  100+ Women Who Care South Florida was established in November 2012 by Melody Spano. Every chapter meets once per quarter, at which time each member has the chance to nominate a charity for donation. Three charities are randomly selected and presented to the group. The group then votes and the charity with the most votes receives the donation.  Debbie's Dream was proud to have been selected and was the beneficiary of $13,500 from 100+ Women Who Care.  Please visit their website athttp://www.100womenwhocaresouthflorida.org

September 27, 2015 - Chicago Half Marathon & 5k

Our team in the Chicago Half Marathon raised over $12,000 for DDF! Many thanks to our Illinois Chapter President Linda Grush for her hard work and leadership as well as the runners on the Dream Team, volunteers, and sponsors. The Chicago Half Marathon gave runners the chance to run on Lake Shore Drive! This scenic 13.1 mile course began at 7 a.m. and started and finished in Jackson Park.

September 21, 2015 - 1st Dream BIG Luncheon

Debbie's Dream Foundation hosted its first ever Dream BIG Luncheon to raise awareness about stomach cancer. Guests enjoyed a fabulous silent auction, boutique vendors, and surprises throughout the day. The event also celebrated DDF President and Founder, Debbie Zelman's 48th birthday. This event raised over $40,000 toward stomach cancer research!

September 11-12, 2015 - 17th Annual Western Canadian Gastrointestinal Cancer Consensus Conference

Debbie Zelman will be giving the keynote speech in Edmonton, Alberta in Canada at the 17th Annual Western Canadian Gastrointestinal Cancer Consensus Conference.  The conference will focus on gastric cancer.  Mrs. Zelman is honored to have been asked to give the keynote.

September 1, 2015 - Ready.Raise.Rise

Debbie's Dream Foundation Stood up to cancer and made 1660 virtual flags in honor of or in memory of a loved one affected by cancer. We raised awareness and supported those who are currently fighting or those who fought the battle.

August 31, 2015 - Jewelry and Cosmetics for Stomach Cancer by Jevon Lee Daniel

Jevon Lee Daniel is supported Debbie's Dream by donating the commission she made from each August sale on her Paparazzi Jewelry and Younique Cosmetics. This helped DDF raise awareness about stomach cancer and memorialized her husband Cleophus Daniel.

August 30, 2015 - Summer's End 5K Run/Walk

The Dream Team ran in the Runner's Edge end to summer 5K run/walk and party. Runners were encouraging others to join our Miami Marathon Dream Team and met fellow teammates. After the race, our Dream Team enjoyed a party with hamburgers, hot dogs, beer, cake, chips, drinks, music, and a special store sales.

August 8, 2015 – Miami Marathon 5K Kick-Off

The Miami Marathon and Half Marathon Dream Team ran the Miami Marathon 5k Kick-Off along Hollywood Beach on Saturday, August 8th. The Dream Team had a clean sweep and a lot of amazing support! Linda Green earned first Golden Grandmaster with a time of 38:41, while her husband, Jay Green, was second in his Age Group with a time of 48:35. David Bursztyn also placed with third in his age with a time of 23:37, while our Dream Team Co-Chair Kimberly Maresh placed first in her age group with a time of 23:28. Congratulations to all of the Dream Team!

June 7, 2015 - National Cancer Survivor's Day - Celebrate Life!

In honor of National Cancer Survivor's Day, Debbie's Dream Foundation: Curing Stomach Cancer is "Celebrating Life" with the artists who have submitted their original works of art in honor of stomach cancer survivors everywhere.  CLICK HERE to view the virtual art gallery and to read about the artists.

June 3, 2015 - CBRE Cares Bowling Event

Debbie's Dream Foundation was chosen as a benefiting charity at the CBRE Cares evening of bowling which took place at Strike10 Bowling Alley in Hallandale Beach, FL.  DDF Board Members and volunteers attended and had a great evening filled with bowling, networking, and exciting raffle prizes.

May 21, 2015 - Parkland Woman's Club

In 1986, the Parkland Woman's Club was founded by Cypress Head neighbors and friends, Debby Beck and Charlotte (Brower) DeLeu. Debby and Charlotte wanted to organize women in their community for fellowship and service.  In our first newsletter, President Charlotte says, "Already many women-powered hours have been spent in setting worthwhile goals for service to and for the betterment of Parkland. This commitment to community involvement will insure our success!"  Debbie's Dream is proud to be the recipient of $835.00 which was raised the Parkland Woman's Club to benefit DDF!

May 2, 2015 - Debbie's Dream Girlz Team in the COLOR RUN!

With Sheri Albert, Stephanie Davis, and Dana Zuckerman as captains, Debbie's Dream Girlz took on the Color Run in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The Color Run, also known as the Happiest 5k on the Planet, is a unique paint race that celebrates healthiness, happiness and individuality.

April 25, 2015 - Robert V. Semenza 4th Annual Softball Tournament

The Debbie's Dream Foundation Pennsylvania Chapter held the 4th Annual Robert V. Semenza Softball Tournament. The event was held at the Robert V. Semenza Softball Field at Pagnotti Park, Old Forge, PA. The day included softball, food & fun including the Wheelbarrow of Cheer and Hand Truck of Beer. Thank you to organizer Marg Semenza and to all of the participants, volunteers, donors, and supporters!

April 20, 2015 - Skip Kimpel – Boston Marathon Dream Team

Skip Kimpel and Lindsay Dahlben made their way to Boston for the 2015 Boston Marathon to run for the DREAM. Although their stories are different, their missions for loved ones are the same. Skip ran in memory of Dr. Melissa De Witt-Larson, a former Dream Team, Symposium Committee, and Patient Resource Education Program (PREP) member. Melissa was diagnosed with Stage IV stomach cancer in August of 2010 and passed way at the age of 42 on October 15 2012. Lindsay ran in honor of her sister Rachael Masri who was diagnosed with Stage IV stomach cancer in 2013 and underwent a full gastrectomy. Rachael is currently living in Israel with her husband and three small children. Their passion and dedication to raise awareness toward stomach and to keep the DREAM alive is inspirational, and we are so proud of their accomplishments!

April 18, 2015 - 6th Annual Dream Makers Gala

The 6th anniversary of Debbie's Dream Foundation: Curing Stomach Cancer was celebrated at our 6th Annual Dream Makers Gala. We had over 600 registered attendees and raised more than $300,000. The event started with a cocktail hour and an amazing silent auction, which was then followed by a mouth-watering dinner, awards, dancing, and yummy dessert. Actress and TV host Giselle Blondet was the Master of Ceremonies and Dale McLean, host of the Miami Heat's HEATv, provided the entertainment. David Kubiliun of Kubiliun & Associates, P.A. was the event chair for the third year in a row. Award recipients included Ken Krasnow of CBRE; Stacy Ostrau of The Sun Sentinel; Alison Frank Chesney of Alison Frank Photography; Mitch and Blake Starr of Bienenfeld, Lasek & Starr, LLC; Edith P. Mitchell, MD, FACP of Thomas Jefferson University; and young philanthropists Rachel Guttman and Zachary Guttman.

April 18, 2015 - Stomach Cancer Education Symposium & Webinar

Debbie's Dream Foundation hosted its 5th Stomach Cancer Education Symposium for in person attendees and via live webinar.  Over 175 patients, families, caregivers, the general public, and health care professionals attended for free.  Topics included integrative medicine; nutritional considerations; novel surgical options; non-surgical treatment options; genomics; clinical trials; and radiation.  There was an incredible stomach cancer Patients and caregivers panel.  Speakers were from MD Anderson Cancer Center; Moffitt Cancer Center; Harvard Dana-Farber Cancer Institute; Thomas Jefferson University; and Sidney Kimmel Cancer Institute at Johns Hopkins.

April 2, 2015 - Cavs vs. Miami Heat

In recognition of November's designation as Curing Stomach Cancer Month, the Ohio Chapter of Debbie's Dream Foundation: Curing Stomach Cancer sponsored a DDF Day at Quicken Loans Arena, in Cleveland, Ohio. Proceeds benefited Debbie's Dream Foundation and left the fans with an unforgettable night. Supporters wore periwinkle or DDF shirts as they cheered on their favorite NBA team. Not only did they support a great cause, but the game kept everyone's attention and ended in a Cavs victory.

March 4-5, 2015 - 3rd Annual Capitol Hill Advocacy Day

Debbie's Dream advocates battled snow storm conditions and traveled from all over the country to Capitol Hill to ask Congress to invest more federal resources in gastric cancer research at our 3rd Annual Stomach Cancer Capitol Hill Advocacy Day. They urged legislators and the NCI to support the fight for a cure and informed them how important it is for stomach cancer to again be included in the $50 million DoD Peer Reviewed Cancer Research Program (PRCRP) each year. Inclusion of stomach cancer in the PRCRP is a significant milestone that DDF accomplished through its advocacy efforts in 2014.

February 15, 2015 - Fort Lauderdale A1A Marathon

February 8, 2015 - 6th Annual Night of Laughter

A sold out crowd of 400 attendees packed into the Improv Comedy Club at the Hollywood Hard Rock Casino, Florida to laugh together raising over $20,000 and counting!  Stand Up Sponsor Stewart Lapayowker tore up the stage with his comedy and welcomed the crowd.  The comedians were hilarious and it was extra funny to see the comedian involve some of the attendees! Thank you to all of our sponsors and kudos to Chair Sheri Albert and her committee for another incredible evening!

January 25, 2015 - Dream Team in the Miami Marathon and Half Marathon

We are so proud of our 85 runners on our 5th Annual DDF Dream Team running in the Miami Marathon and Half Marathon. Participants raised over $16,000 and were part of over 10,000 participants.  Many thanks to our sponsors, event Co-Chairs and Committee as well as our numerous and enthusiastic volunteers at our tent who helped with the food and water for the runners, decorated the tent with festive periwinkle balloons, cheered, gave massages, took pictures, and lots more!

January 23, 2015 - Dream Team Miami Marathon Kick-Off Party

We were excited to host our 4th Annual Debbie's Dream Team Miami Marathon & Half Marathon Kick Off Party!  Race participants, their friends and family, sponsors, supporters, Board members, and donors gathered to enjoy free appetizers, free participant race packet pick-up, and a free race shirt.  Go team!

2015 Youth Art Contest

Children ages 18 years or younger who have been directly or indirectly affected by cancer, submitted their original artwork and photographs to DDF for consideration in the 2015 DDF Youth Art Contest.
