Monday, September 25, 2017 - 3rd Annual Dream BIG Luncheon

Debbie's Dream Foundation hosted its 3rd Annual Dream BIG Luncheon to raise awareness about stomach cancer and to honor DDF President and Founder and current stomach cancer patient Debbie Zelman's 50th birthday. The event took place at the Bonaventure Resort & Spa in Weston, FL and featured a fabulous silent auction reception, delicious lunch and fun surprises throughout the day. Local 10 News WPLG reporter Kristi Krueger was Master of Ceremonies, and Linda Gendler and Sabrina Kurzman were the Co-Chairs for the third year in a row. With 318 registered guests, the event raised over $80,000 to fund research and benefit stomach cancer patients around the world. During the luncheon, Zelman was presented with proclamations declaring September 25th Debbie Zelman Day from the cities of Davie, Plantation, Weston and Broward County for her hard work, the difference she has made for stomach cancer patients worldwide, and for reaching this life milestone.

Sunday, September 24, 2017 – 2017 Chicago Half Marathon and 5k

The Chicago Half Marathon gave runners the chance to run on Lake Shore Drive! This scenic 13.1 mile course began at 7 a.m. and started and finished in Jackson Park. Our team in the Chicago Half Marathon raised over $1,750 for DDF! Many thanks to our runners on the Dream Team, volunteers, and supporters!

Sunday, September 17, 2017 – Race with Grace 5K

DDF's Ohio Dream Team raised awareness about stomach cancer and spread the word about Debbie's Dream Foundation: Curing Stomach Cancer on Sunday, September 17 at the Race with Grace in St. Medina, Ohio. Thank you to our Ohio Co-Chapter Founders Angela Bosela, Paul Bosela, and Sheila Gambaccini and the rest of the team for all of your support!

Thursday, August 24, 2017 – "Girls Night Out" Fundraiser at Pink and Blues

Pink & Blues, a children's boutique in Plantation, hosted a "Girls Night Out" fundraiser shopping event on Thursday, August 24th to raise funds and awareness for Debbie's Dream Foundation. Those who attended the event experienced a night of great fashion and food while benefitting a great cause! 20% of all proceeds went directly to Debbie's Dream Foundation: Curing Stomach Cancer.

For the second year, the Debbie's Dream Youth Leadership Council is holding an essay contest for students in three categories - high school, middle school, and elementary school.  One winner will be chosen from each category.  Celebrity judges will be reviewing all of the submissions.

Saturday, April 29, 2017 - 7th Stomach Cancer Education Symposium & Webinar

Debbie's Dream Foundation: Curing Stomach Cancer is hosted its 7th Annual Stomach Cancer Education Symposium for in person attendees and via live webcast. More than 200 patients, families, caregivers, the general public, and health care professionals attended for FREE via in person or webcast. Speakers were David Ilson, MD, PhD of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center; Alexander Parikh, MD of Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center; Joel Tepper, MD on UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center; Michael Cusnir, MD of Mount Sinai Medical Center; and Edith Mitchell, MD, FACP of Thomas Jefferson University. Topics included a Stomach Cancer Patient and Caregiver Panel; Non-Surgical Treatment Options; Surgical Treatment Options; Radiation Oncology; Immunotherapy; Integrative Medicine; and the Cancer Moonshot.

Saturday, April 29, 2017 - 8th Annual Dream Makers Gala

The 8th anniversary of Debbie's Dream Foundation: Curing Stomach Cancer was celebrated at our 8th Annual Dream Makers Gala on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at The Diplomat Resort & Spa in Hollywood Florida. We had over 570 registered attendees and raised more than $335,000. The event started with a cocktail hour and an amazing silent auction, which was then followed by a mouth-watering dinner, dancing, live auction, awards and dessert. Lisa Petrillo, Entertainment and Lifestyle Reporter for WFOR, CBS4 Miami was the Master of Ceremonies.  David Kubiliun of Greenspoon Marder and Stephen Greenberger of Broward County Sheriff's Office were the chairs of the event. Award recipients included Greenspoon Marder; Willard Shepard of NBC 6; Susie Bond of BrickAmerica; Donald Zelman, MD; David Ilson, MD, PhD of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center; and Brittany Gendler of Western High School.

Saturday, March 18, 2017 – 2017 Monsters Hockey for Stomach Cancer

The DDF Ohio Chapter led by chapter founders Paul and Angie Bosela sponsored a DDF Night at the Quicken Loans Arena.  34 DDF supporters watched the Cleveland Monsters take on the Texas Stars as they supported research for stomach cancer.

February 27-28, 2017 - 5th Annual Advocacy Day

Forty advocates from twelve different states attended our 5th Annual Stomach Cancer Capitol Hill Advocacy Day.  Advocates attended almost 100 meetings on the hill to fight for stomach cancer research funding. They urged legislators and the NCI to support the fight for a cure and informed them how important it is for stomach cancer to again be included in the $50 million DoD Peer Reviewed Cancer Research Program (PRCRP) each year. DDF held a Capitol Hill Reception to honor Congressional Champions Representative John Culberson and Representative Danny Davis for their support for DDF's mission.  DDF also presented its 2nd Annual Volunteer of the Year Award to New Jersey South Chapter Founder Melani Vincelli and held a meeting the day prior to provide information, support, education, and training for advocates.

Sunday, January 29, 2017 - 8th Annual Fort Lauderdale Night of Laughter

Debbie's Dream Foundation hosted its 8th Annual Night of Laughter at the Improv Comedy Club at the Hollywood Hard Rock Casino, Florida. A sold out crowd of 400 attendees laughed together to raise almost $36,500!  Guests enjoyed fabulous raffles, delicious food, unique drinks, and hilarious comedic acts. Thank you to our sponsors, including our National Title Sponsor Lilly Oncology and Stand Up Sponsors Stewart and Michele Lapayowker. Stewart once again took the stage and had the crowd roaring with his comedy act.  Headliner Dean Napolitano was also hysterical!  Thank you to all of the rest of our sponsors and congratulations to Chair Sheri Albert and her committee for another incredible evening!

Congratulations to 158 members of Debbie's Dream Team in the 2017 Miami Marathon and Half Marathon!  Participants raised over $14,700 and were part of more than 25,000 race participants.  Many thanks to our sponsors, event Co-Chairs, Committee, and volunteers who helped make the event a great success.

We were excited to host our 6th Annual Debbie's Dream Team Miami Marathon & Half Marathon Kick Off Party! Race participants, their friends and family, sponsors, supporters, Board members, and donors gathered to enjoy delicious appetizers, free participant race packet pick-up, inspirational speeches, and team bonding. Go team!

Friday, January 13, 2017 - South Florida Golf Fore A Cure

Debbie's Dream Foundation hosted its Inaugural South Florida Dream Fore A Cure Golf Tournament at the Fort Lauderdale Country Club. Participants enjoyed a beautiful day full of golf, food, and fun. The event raised over $10,000 and had over 40 golfers, supporters, and volunteers in attendance. The golf tournament was a great success thanks to the leadership of event chair Jonathan Perrillo and his amazing committee!
