Discussion topics for optimal nutrition for those who have had a partial or total gastrectomy including appetite changes, minimizing weight loss, maintaining nutritional status, reflux, fat intolerance, nutrient deficiencies, lactose intolerance, and Dumping Syndrome.

Our inaugural International Stomach Cancer Jeans Day was a big hit!  Supporters from all over took part in the fundraiser while showing off their most stylish jeans.  What better way to raise money for stomach cancer research than wearing jeans to work or school while encouraging your peers to do the same?

November 2, 2013 - 3rd Annual Cocktails & Cupcakes

The 3rd Annual DC Cocktails and Cupcakes was held in Washington, DC at the Recording Industry Association of America. Event Co-Chairs Steven Marks and Suzanne Morrell provided inspired cocktails, decadent sweets, festive entertainment by the PieTasters, and the chance to win fabulous prizes for 150 guests. It was an incredible event!

November - Curing Stomach Cancer Month

Although we hold stomach cancer awareness activities and events all year long, November is a great time to raise awareness about stomach cancer!  We encourage you to meet your family and friends on a walk, at a bowling alley, at a movie, etc but to so in your Debbie's Dream periwinkle power shirt to raise awareness about stomach cancer.  Take photos of you and your Debbie's Dream Team and send them to us for us to post on our social media sites to raise even more awareness.  To purchase items, go to our Shop DDF page on our website.

October 20, 2013 - New Jersey 3rd Annual 5k For Jenni

For the 3rd year in a row, Chairs Nicole Woodward and Keri Lippman organized a 5k run/walk in memory of Nicole's childhood friend Jennifer Zambrana who passed away from stomach cancer at the age of 28 years old. Nicole and Keri hope to make a difference for other stomach cancer patients in Jennifer's memory. Please join us in this wonderful tribute.

October 18, 2013 - Be Bold, Be Bald

For the 2nd year in a row,Debbie's Dream Foundation participated in this unique worldwide fundraiser to honor cancer patients and raise money to fight the disease.  Participants purchased bald caps and wore them for the entire day in honor of patients fighting cancer or in memory of someone.

September 8, 2013 - Chicago Half Marathon & Hyundai Hope On Wheels 5K

The Chicago Half Marathon gave our Dream Team runners the chance to run on Lake Shore Drive! This scenic 13.1 mile course began at 7 a.m. and started and finished in Jackson Park.  Many thanks to our Illinois Chapter President and Event Chair Linda Grush for her hard work and leadership as well as the runners on the Dream Team, volunteers, and sponsors.

August 24, 2013 - Macy's Shop For A Cause

Debbie's Dream participated in Macy's 8th Annual Shop For A Cause benefiting charities nationwide. Many thanks to Macy's for your generosity!

May 20, 2013 - Inaugural Capitol Hill Advocacy Day

Thirty advocates from sixteen states and Canada attended 61 meetings on the hill at our inaugural Stomach Cancer Capitol Hill Advocacy Day.  DDF advocates went to Capitol Hill to fight for stomach cancer research funding.  They urged legislators and the NCI to support the fight for a cure which resulted in a letter from 39 US House Representatives and a letter from 5 US Senators to the National Cancer Institute urging that stomach cancer be a higher funding priority.

May 18, 2013 - Memorial Hermann Ironman Texas

For the 2nd year in a row, Shannon Tomchin participated in the Memorial Hermann Ironman Texas in honor of Debbie's Dream Foundation. She combined her passion for fitness with raising awareness about stomach cancer to help achieve DDF's mission. Thank you Shannon!

April 20, 2013 - 4th Annual Dream Makers Gala

The 4th anniversary of Debbie's Dream Foundation: Curing Stomach Cancer was celebrated at our 4th Annual Dream Makers Gala. We had over 530 registered attendees and raised more than $230,000. The evening included cocktails, entertainment, live and silent auctions, dinner, dancing, yummy dessert and fun surprises as guests were treated to a beautiful cirque Debbie's Dream!  Award recipients included Marsha and Alan Levy; Melanie Geronemus Smit of Lifestyle Publications; Cindy Krischer Goodman of The Miami Herald; Jordan D. Berlin, MD, of the Vanderbilt – Ingram Cancer Center; Sydney Lieberman; Lauren Shatanof; and Rachel Shatanof.

April 20, 2013 - 3rd Annual Stomach Cancer Symposium

Debbie's Dream hosted its third Stomach Cancer Education Symposium for in person and attendees and via live webinar. Attendees included patients, families, caregivers, the general public, and health care professionals and learned about topics like surgical and non-surgical treatments for stomach cancer, radiation, clinical trials, genomics, nutrition and side effect management.

April 20, 2013 - Robert V. Semenza Softball Tournament

Friends and family of Robert Semenza remembered him during an annual Softball Tournament with the Moosic/Old Forge League in Pennsylvania.  Events included a Home Run Derby, Wheelbarrow of Cheer Raffle, 50/50 Raffle, face painting, a Time Capsule Ceremony and much more.

March 17, 2013 - 2013 NYC Half Marathon

We had a Dream Team running in the New York Half Marathon!  We had 6 amazing runners and raised over $7,400!  Way to go!

February 23, 2013 - Dance for Doug

The first Dance for Doug was held in Omaha, Nebraska in memory of Doug Ferguson.  Participants got in shape doing Zumba while raising awareness about stomach cancer and funds for research.

February 21, 2013 - BBYO Card Project

The South Florida BBYO Chapter made colorful get well cards for stomach cancer patients.  There are so many ways for people of every age to get involved with Debbie's Dream Foundation and the fight against this horrible disease.  These teens decided to brighten the day of people with stomach cancer.  Many thanks to these thoughtful teens!

February 10, 2013 - 4th Annual Night of Laughter at the Improv Comedy Club

A sold out crowd of 400 attendees packed into the Improv Comedy Club at the Hollywood Hard Rock Casino, Florida to laugh together raising over $20,000.  The comedians were hilarious!Stand Up Sponsor Stewart Lapayowker surprised the crowd with his rock band.Thank you to all of our sponsors and kudos to Chair Sheri Albert and her committee for another incredible evening!

January 27, 2013 - Dream Team in the Miami Marathon and Half Marathon

We are so proud of our 60 runners on our 3rd Annual DDF Dream Team running in the Miami Marathon or Half Marathon.  Participants raised over $20,000 and were part of over 10,000 participants.  Thank you to our sponsors, event Co-Chairs, and Committee who helped make the event a great success.  Many thanks to our numerous and enthusiastic volunteers at our tent who helped with the food and water for the runners, decorated the tent with festive periwinkle balloons, cheered, gave massages, took pictures, and lots more!  Fun was had by all.

January 25, 2013 - Dream Team Miami ING Marathon Kick-Off Party

We were excited to host our 2nd Annual Debbie's Dream Team Miami Marathon & Half Marathon Kick Off Party!  Race participants, their friends and family, sponsors, supporters, Board members, and donors gathered to enjoy free appetizers, free participant race packet pick-up, and a free race shirt.  Go team!

January 1, 2013 - Inaugural Youth Art Contest

Children ages 18 years or younger who have been directly or indirectly affected by cancer, submitted their original artwork and photographs to DDF for consideration in the 2014 DDF Youth Art Contest.  The winners' artwork was included in the DDF 2014 Calendar and notecards, which can be purchased on our merchandise page.
