Sunday, December 11, 2016 – 2nd Annual New York Night of Laughter

The New York chapter of Debbie's Dream Foundation hosted its 2nd Annual New York Night of Laughter at the Gotham Comedy Club in New York City. More than 125 friends of DDF enjoyed an evening of amazing raffles, delicious drinks, and hilarious comedians.  The evening was a great success raising more than $23,000 thanks to the leadership of co-chairs Andrew Elkin and Nicole Reichenbach and their amazing committee.  Thank you to our National Night of Laughter Sponsor Lilly Oncology and Comic Relief sponsors Investors Bank, Debbie Zelman and Andrew Guttman, and Madelyn and Danny Zelman.

Saturday, December 10, 2016 – New York Stomach Cancer Education Symposium

Debbie's Dream Foundation: Curing Stomach Cancer hosted its New York Stomach Cancer Education Symposium for more than 300 in person attendees and via live webcast. All patients, families, caregivers, the general public, and health care professionals were invited to attend for FREE.

Friday, November 18, 2016 – Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Detroit Pistons

In recognition of November's designation as Curing Stomach Cancer Month, the DDF Ohio Chapter led by chapter founders Paul and Angie Bosela and Sheila Gambaccini sponsored a DDF Day at the Quicken Loans Arena.  70 DDF supporters watched the Cleveland Cavaliers take on the Detroit Pistons as they supported research for stomach cancer.

Saturday, November 5, 2016 - 3rd Annual Fayetteville NC Golf Tournament and Charity Dinner

The Debbie's Dream North Carolina East Chapter hosted the 3rd Annual NC Golf Tournament at the Gates Four Golf & Country Club in Fayetteville, North Carolina chaired by Tony and Christy Leonard.  The event was the best yet thanks to Chairs Christy and Tony Leonard, generous sponsors, volunteers, donors, and all of the golfers!

Wednesday, November 2, 2016 - Denim for Debbie

Our 2016 Denim for Debbie Day was a big hit! Supporters from all over took part in the fundraiser while showing off their most stylish jeans.  What better way to raise money for stomach cancer research than wearing jeans to work or school while encouraging your peers to do the same!

Friday, October 21, 2016 – 5th Annual Be Bold, Be Bald!

For the 5th year in a row, Debbie's Dream Foundation participated in this unique worldwide fundraiser to honor cancer patients and raise money to fight the disease.  Participants purchased bald caps and wore them for the entire day in honor of patients fighting cancer or in memory of someone.  Check out the photos on our Facebook page at

Monday, September 26, 2016 – 2nd Annual Dream BIG Luncheon

Debbie's Dream Foundation hosted its 2nd Annual Dream BIG Luncheon to raise awareness about stomach cancer at the Bonaventure Resort & Spa in Weston, FL. Guests enjoyed a fabulous silent auction, a delicious lunch and surprises throughout the day. The event also celebrated DDF President and Founder, Debbie Zelman's 49th birthday. This event raised over $60,000 toward stomach cancer research!

Saturday, April 9, 2016 - 7th Annual Dream Makers Gala

The 7th anniversary of Debbie's Dream Foundation: Curing Stomach Cancer was celebrated Bond style at our 007th Annual Dream Makers Gala. We had over 500 registered attendees and raised more than $318,000. The evening started with a "shaken not stirred" cocktail hour and an amazing silent auction, which was then followed by a mouth-watering dinner, awards, dancing, dessert, and a "casino royale."  Former NFL Linebacker Jeffrey Dellenbach was the Master of Ceremonies and Dale McLean, host of the Miami Heat's HEATv, provided the entertainment. David Kubiliun of Greenspoon Marder and Shelley Goldstein were the chairs of the event. Award recipients included Gilbert Drozdow, MD, MBA of Sheridan Healthcare; Lisa Petrillo of CBS Channel 4; Stewart H. Lapayowker, Esq. and Michele J. Lapayowker, of Lapayowker Jet Counsel, P.A.; Russell Sassani, MD and Michael Schneider of Take Shape Plastic Surgery; Adam Bass, MD of Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Harvard University; Eric Sopshin; and Zachary Steinberg.

Saturday, April 9, 2016 - 6th Stomach Cancer Education Symposium & Webinar - FREE

Debbie's Dream Foundation hosted its 6th Stomach Cancer Education Symposium for in person attendees and via live webinar. Over 100 patients, families, caregivers, the general public, and health care professionals attended for free.  Speakers were from University of Colorado School of Medicine; MD Anderson Cancer Center; Duke Cancer Center; Harvard Dana-Farber Cancer Institute; Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center; and Memorial Hospital West.  Topics included novel surgical options; non-surgical treatment options; radiation oncology; genomics; clinical trials; integrative medicine; and nutritional considerations.

Thursday, March 10, 2016 - New York Tennis & Charity Luncheon

More than 30 ladies gathered for this sold out first New York Tennis Charity Luncheon to benefit Debbie's Dream at the Roosevelt Island Racquet Club to enjoy a rousing game of tennis, enjoy a delectable lunch and participate in a raffle with amazing prizes, in support of Debbie's Dream Foundation: Curing Stomach Cancer.  This inaugural event, chaired by Tammy Caress, raised over $9,000.
March 1, 2016 - YLC Essay Contest

For the first year, the Debbie's Dream Youth Leadership Council is holding an essay contest for students in three categories - high school, middle school, and elementary school.  One winner will be chosen from each category.

Friday, February 19, 2016 - Lake Erie Monsters Hockey for Stomach Cancer

More than 45 DDF supporters attended the 2016 Monsters Hockey for Stomach Cancer game vs. the San Antonio Rampage.  Proceeds from each ticket sold benefitted Debbie's Dream Foundation: Curing Stomach Cancer.

Thursday, February 11, 2016 - 4th Annual Stomach Cancer Capitol Hill Advocacy Day

Almost 40 DDF advocates went to Capitol Hill to fight for stomach cancer research funding at our 4th Annual Stomach Cancer Capitol Hill Advocacy Day.  They urged legislators and the NCI to support the fight for a cure and that stomach cancer should be included in the $50 million DoD Peer Reviewed Cancer Research Program each year.  DDF presented Senator Mazie K. Hirono with a Congressional Champion Award and held a Capitol Hill Reception to recognize Representatives Ileana Ros-Lehtinen and Lois Frankel for their support for DDF's mission.  DDF also presented its inaugural Volunteer of the Year Award to North Carolina East Co-Chapter Founders Christina and Anthony Leonard and held an information, support, education, and training sessions.

Sunday, January 31, 2016 - 7th Annual Night of Laughter

A sold out crowd of 400 attendees packed into the Improv Comedy Club at the Hollywood Hard Rock Casino, Florida to laugh together raising almost $38,000!  Stand Up Sponsor Stewart Lapayowker took the stage and had the crowd roaring with his comedy act.  Headliner Adam Ferrara from Rescue Me was hilarious!  Thank you to all of our sponsors and kudos to Chair Sheri Albert and her committee for another incredible evening!

Sunday, January 24, 2016 - 6th Miami Marathon & Half Marathon

Congratulations to the more than 240 members of Debbie's Dream Team in the 2016 Miami Marathon and Half Marathon!  Participants raised over $14,000 and were part of more than 25,000 race participants.  Many thanks to our sponsors, event Co-Chairs, Committee, and volunteers who helped make the event a great success.

January 21 - 23, 2016 - ASCO GI Conference

Debbie's Dream staff, Chapter leaders, and Medical Advisory Board members attended the 2016 ASCO GI conference which is a high-profile, specialized oncology event designed for the exchange of the latest research and science in cancers of the stomach, esophagus, pancreas, small bowel, hepatobiliary tract, colon, and rectum.

January 1, 2016 - 4th Annual Youth Art Contest

Children ages 18 years or younger who have been directly or indirectly affected by cancer, submitted their original artwork and photographs to DDF for consideration in the 2016 DDF Youth Art Contest. You can purchase the calendars and notecards that feature past winners at our eStore on our website.
